The monsoon rains in northern India usually last from June until September. Several weeks ago we related the news of how torrential rains caused by a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal hit the Darjeeling hills quite hard and caused hundreds of landslides that killed people and wiped out homes and other buildings. This happened at the end of May. We were praying that God would hold back the monsoon rains until people were able to repair the damage caused by the landslides, and God answered our prayers! The monsoon rains finally came about two weeks ago, several weeks late. This gave families and communities throughout the Darjeeling hills enough time to repair the damage to their property and reinforce the unstable land around the slides. We know that Jesus still calms storms even today.
