Settling in

The political strike here in the Darjeeling district ended a few weeks ago, and we were able to move into our new apartment. We have some very friendly neighbors, and we are enjoying getting to know them. It’s also nice to have our own bed, and Tonya is happy to have her own kitchen. Life definitely isn’t easy here, but Darjeeling is starting to feel a little more like home everyday.
From April 11-28, we will be in Thailand for a missionary retreat and a little vacation time. During the retreat we will share our experiences with AFM missionaries from other projects throughout Asia, and continue working on our evangelistic strategy for Darjeeling. Having already been in Darjeeling for three years, our teammates, Jonathan & Karen Lovitt, are ready to launch into the first phases of evangelism. Well we continue to study the Nepali language and provide support for them, and they will be starting to develop Scripture lessons and other tools geared to create hunger among the Gorkha peoples for something better in their lives. Please continue to pray for our team as we launch into this new phase of ministry.
Also, please pray for our relationship with our neighbors. We want them to see us as a welcome addition to their community. As always, please continue to pray that we will stayed focused and motivated in our language and culture study.
